This year I have decided to concentrate my efforts on the mega difficult Conningbrook this 16 acre gravel pit is the home of the current British Record Carp 65lb-4oz, though my target fish is the Long Common at just over 40lb a truly stunning looking fish with just 16 known fish it will be like looking for a needle in a haystack also the lake is extremely weedy even at this time of year, my first session was at Christmas needless to say I blanked but it was very exciting to say the least I fished completely slack lines my bobbins were on the ground as the lake is crystal clear. My first session I set up in the lifebouy swim with a northeasterly wind blowing I fished to the back of the wind the only Carp I saw was laying up in the reeds to my right, and when it emerged it was huge making a bow wave right across the lake.
