Low oxygen levels have made the carp lethargic and only seem to want to feed whilst the pump is running, Those that fished this area did fairly well, I would rather let the carp get their much needed oxygen in peace, so fished the far end of the lake, hoping to pick up a nomadic carp or two, also due to the amount of naturals in the lake this year it's going to be a different kettle of fish than last year, Monday night it rained hard right through to the early hours however the rain eased off at 10.30pm and I had a take on my left hand rod producing a lively mirror of 16lb-0oz, then the heavens opened up again, with no more takes packed away at midday.
It felt good to be amongst the Carp again this week having four takes and all fish landed, they included three commons of 10lb-4oz,14lb-12oz,20lb-8oz and a mirror of 18lb-8oz. All fish were taken on one rod and fell to bottom baits which were 18mm Matrix boilies.
One Pole was my choice of swim this week knowing the wind was going to change direction and pick up fairly strong on the second day, and indeed it did giving me two carp the first came at 03.10am a lovely Mirror of 24lb-4oz this was followed at 04.40am with a Common of 21lb-8oz, My next session will be a mammoth one of ten days, can't wait.
Just back from a 48hr session taking two Twenties, which were much needed after a long dry spell, the first was a 21lb-0oz Mirror at 01.20am the second came at 1500hrs and weighed 28lb-6oz. The 21lb-0oz fell to a new protein bait the 28lb-6oz fell to a snowman rig which consisted of a 14mm winegum popup and a 10mm Trop/con/sweet popup.
Just got back from the Mill and as the lake has switched off with only one carp caught in seven days, I put a rod out for the Pike and had seven takes landing four, two fish fell to dead baits float fished 18" below the surface and two on a spinner the fish weighed 8lb-0oz, 15lb-0oz, 16lb-8oz and 19lb-15oz
Fished the closing day at the Mill and Landed three Carp and lost two, the fish I landed were 19lb-14oz Common, 21lb-8oz Mirror and a 28lb-0oz Linnear, all fish fell to 14mm Matrix Indian, wind = S/W water temperature 56f
